The battle to make the MIAA playoffs in all three divisions heads into the homestretch as the calendar is about to turn to May.

In the A Conference, last week’s MIAA Game of the Week was a thriller and led to a tie atop the standings as Boys’ Latin (6-1) suffered its’ first league defeat of the season – a 12-10 defeat to McDonogh.

That loss dropped the Lakers into a first-place tie with Calvert Hall (6-1). The Cardinals (6-1) won twice on the road last week, rallying to beat Gilman (5-2) 7-6 in overtime – thanks to a game-winning goal by Cody Collier – and beating St. Paul’s (3-4) 11-8 behind two goals each by four different players. The Lakers hold the head-to-head edge with the Hall, as Boys’ Latin beat the Cardinals 11-10 in overtime back on April 5.

The Game of the Week victory meant that the Eagles (6-2) stayed one game in the loss column behind the co-leaders with the victory. McDonogh was paced by Luke Miller, who scored three goals and added an assist, Brendan Millon, who added two goals and two assists, and Bogue Hahn, who had three goals – including an empty-net tally in the final moments that iced the victory.
