As the Baltimore weather is finally getting warmer in mid-April, the lacrosse action across the three MIAA conferences are doing the same.

In the A Conference, Boys' Latin is undefeated in league play at 5-0, and the Lakers are 9-1 overall. Right on their heels is Gilman, also undefeated at 4-0 in the A, and the Greyhounds hold a 9-2 overall record. Calvert Hall is a game behind BL at 4-1, and the Cardinals are 7-4 overall.

BL stayed undefeated with a 15-7 home victory Tuesday over Mount St. Joseph - thanks to a four-goal effort by Spencer Ford and a three-goal outburst by Colin Kenney. Gilman also grabbed a 15-7 road victory over Severn with the help of Michael Maloney, who scored four goals and added an assist. Calvert Hall doubled up John Carroll 18-9 in Bel Air to keep pace with the leaders. The Cardinals got four goals each from Sisto Averno and Owen Scott in the victory over the Patriots.

The race for the top six spots that make the A playoffs is tight, as the other eight teams behind the top three in the current standings are bunched within three games in the loss column. Archbishop Spalding and McDonogh are tied for fourth at 3-2, while St. Paul's and Loyola are a half-game behind at 2-2, tied for sixth. Spalding climbed into that tie with McDonogh by nipping the Eagles 10-9 on the road in overtime Tuesday. The Cavaliers rallied with four unanswered goals in the final nine minutes to force OT in the thriller before winning in the extra session on a Connor Wilbur goal. Wilbur finished the game with three goals and five assists.

Looking ahead, one A Conference game is on the schedule Thursday as Mount St. Joseph (1-3) visits Severn (0-4).

The Kelly Benefits MIAA Game of the Week this Friday has Loyola visiting McDonogh at 4:15 pm, livestreamed on MIAAChampionships.com, Blackbyrd Events YouTube channel, ForTheFan Network, Lacrosse TV and WBAL-TV Very Local app. The Dons look to leapfrog into the top six with a victory, while the Eagles try to keep pace with the top three teams in the A Conference.

Other A Conference action Friday has John Carroll (1-4) at Archbishop Spalding, and Boys' Latin is at St. Mary's (0-5). St. Paul's visits Gilman on Saturday in A Conference action.

Next Tuesday (April 23), two huge games are on the schedule as McDonogh visits Boys' Latin, and Calvert Hall goes to Gilman. St. Mary's visits Mount St. Joseph, John Carroll is at Loyola and Severn travels to St. Paul's in other A Conference games.

In the B Conference, Archbishop Curley leads the way with a 4-0 league mark, as the Friars are almost finished with the first half of their 10-game MIAA schedule. Saints Peter & Paul are 2-0, while St. Vincent Pallotti is 1-1. Curley reached that 4-0 mark after a 19-10 victory over Pallotti on Tuesday.

Friday, Curley visits Gerstell (1-2), Indian Creek (0-4) heads to Easton to take on Saints Peter & Paul, and Pallotti hits the road to face Park (1-2).

Next Tuesday, Saints Peter & Paul make the long trek to Baltimore to face league leader Archbishop Curley, while Gerstell goes to Laurel to face St. Vincent Pallotti.

Looking at the C Conference standings, St. John's Catholic Prep (4-0), Concordia Prep (5-1) and Friends (3-1) lead the way for the top six playoff spots so far. Glenelg Country (3-2), Key (3-2) and Annapolis Area Christian (2-2) are in a battle for fourth place currently.

St. John's remained undefeated in the conference after the Vikings posted an 18-9 victory over Annapolis Area Christian on Tuesday. Also Tuesday, Concordia Prep went on the road, and the Saints handed Friends its first conference loss of the season with a 13-2 victory over the Quakers.

Thursday, Annapolis Area Christian plays at Beth Tfiloh (3-5), Friends visits Glenelg Country and Christo Rey (0-4) heads to St. John's. Friday, Concordia Prep hosts Chapelgate Christian (1-3).

Next Tuesday, Concordia Prep hosts Key, Friends visits St. John's and Mount Carmel (0-4) is at Annapolis Area Christian.
